Emirates Post Group (EPG) announced that it has been the first in the area to issue non-fungible token (NFT) stamps in honour of the UAE’s 50th National Day.

This new generation of stamps will be unveiled on December 2 (National Day) with four separate NFT stamps to coincide with the nation’s Golden Jubilee celebrations. These ground-breaking NFT stamps will have a digital equivalent in the blockchain system and will be marketed as digital collectibles connected to their physical counterparts.

NFT stamp collectors will be able to acquire, swap, and trade NFT stamps that celebrate the UAE’s history and accomplishments.

“In keeping with EPG’s aim of converting into a more digital-centric firm, we are happy to announce the debut of the region’s first NFT stamp, which utilises blockchain technology,” said Abdulla Mohammed Alashram, Group CEO of Emirates Post Group. We are bridging the gap between traditional stamps and the realm of digital currencies by producing tradable NFT stamps.”

There are four stamps in all.

Each of the four NFT stamps features a unique design that is based on the UAE’s national theme. The first is the Golden Jubilee 2021, a luxury edition containing a gramme of pure gold.

The second stamp, titled ‘Spirit of the Union – 1971,’ commemorates the formation of the country by the founding fathers.

The third stamp is ‘Year of the 50th – 2021’.

‘Projects of the 50th – 2071’ is the fourth stamp, which represents the UAE’s futuristic vision.

How to get hold of NFT stamps?

After scanning the QR code printed on the front side of the card, buyers will be able to view the digital design connected to the actual stamp. The stamp incorporates a cryptographic NFC chip that can be verified with any smartphone that has an NFC reader.

Each stamp has a unique code concealed inside the card that can be unlocked by scanning the QR code, which will activate the block chain equivalent. Users with an existing digital crypto wallet can link it to the NFT or add the digital twin as a collection.

Beginning December 2, the NFT stamps will be available for purchase on a dedicated website.
