AMC is the most recent legacy corporation to join the NFT fray.
Members of AMC Stubs Premiere, AMC Stubs A-List, and AMC Investor Connect who book tickets for the Dec. 16 launch of “Spider-Man: No Way Home” in advance will get 86,000 non-fungible tokens from the theatre chain and Sony Pictures.
Brands of all sizes are seeking for new methods to interact with customers and, hopefully, increase sales. Marketers have jumped on the next digital wave, with crypto-collectibles surging in popularity.
These assets are registered on a blockchain, which is a digital ledger similar to the networks that support bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. However, unlike most traditional currencies, one NFT cannot be exchanged for another in the same way that dollars or other assets may. Each NFT is one-of-a-kind and serves as a collectible object that cannot be replicated, making them extremely uncommon.
In collaboration with Cub Studios, AMC announced on Sunday that more than 100 NFT designs will be available.
The film’s tickets will go on sale on November 29. On December 22, customers who are eligible for the NFT will get an email with redemption instructions, and the token must be redeemed before March 1.
